Ways to Disconnect from Tech
When it comes to technology, it’s safe to say that it’s changed our lives, and our world, for the better. At least for the most part. There are a number of benefits to the plethora of technology we have at our disposal these days, and that’s great, because it’s literally everywhere. Tech is integrated into just about everything we do these days. All of our devices are “smart” these days, and we carry super computers around in our pockets. However, it can all get to be too much sometimes, and so we may find ourselves wanting to get away sometimes. Here are some ways to get away from technology for awhile.
First and foremost, let’s talk about retreating into the wilderness. Getting away from civilization and reconnecting with nature is one of the greatest, most under rated priveleges there is in this modern world of technology, so it comes with high recommendations from myself. I’d give it a 5 star rating on Yelp, but then that’s both impossible and missing point. There’s something almost magical and somehow important about getting back to our more primitive roots and spending the night out under the stars, surrounded by at least the illusion of danger, seeing and cooking by fire light, etc. It really stirs something deep down inside of you.
Furthermore, there are many things that a camping trip allows you to do that go along with it. For starters, you can go for a hike. That’s not an insulting dismissal, by the way. You can literally go on a hike. Bring a pair of boots from Merrell and hit the trail. Along the way, you can even forage for edibles, for be sure to do thorough research before hand to do so safely. You can go hunting or fishing, as well, if you like. You can even go swimming. However, I would be remiss if I didn’t mention the traditional roasting of wieners and/or marshmallows over the campfire and telling spooky stories.
